Nestled just opposite the enchanting Shantadurga Temple in Calangute, Goa, Cafe Anand is a hidden gem that promises an authentic taste of Goan flavors. With its charmingly simple canteen-style ambiance, this café embodies the essence of local culinary delights, making it a must-visit for both tourists and locals alike.

The menu is a heartwarming collection of traditional dishes, where each item bursts with flavor and tells a story. For breakfast or a light snack, indulge in their signature Ross Omelette—a fluffy omelette drenched in a rich, spicy xacuti gravy that will awaken your taste buds. Pair this with some freshly made Goan bread, like the flaky Parota or crispy Puri Plate, and you’ve got a meal that embodies the spirit of Goa.

Besides breakfast, the café also offers an inviting selection of dishes such as the tender Chicken Sagoti served with soft pooris, and the flavorful and quintessential Goan Chicken Xacuti. For lunch, try their delightful Fish Curry Rice or a comforting Veg Dal Rice plate to experience a true local lunch ensemble.

Customer reviews resonate with joy and satisfaction. Siddhesh Bavkar describes the dining experience as “outstanding,” with the Ross Omelette being the highlight of his visit. Bobby Roy echoes this sentiment, emphasizing that small spots like Café Anand hold the best treasures. Indeed, as Pradip Bis puts it, “never judge a book by its cover.” The place might be modest, but the flavor is unequivocally vibrant.

Notably, this fantastic café is also remarkably pocket-friendly, making it an ideal stop for anyone seeking delicious food without breaking the bank. However, do keep in mind that finding parking nearby might be a bit challenging, so plan your visit accordingly!

Cafe Anand isn’t just about a meal; it's an experience steeped in local culture and flavor. If you are wandering around Calangute, make sure to step into this little slice of Goan paradise and discover the heartwarming dishes that await you.

“If you’re in Goa and craving authentic local flavors, Café Anand is a fantastic spot! I tried the Ross Omelette and Chicken Xacuti, and both were outstanding. The Ross Omelette was packed with flavor—the omelette itself was soft and fluffy, soaking up the rich, spicy xacuti gravy perfectly. Paired with Goan bread, it was an absolute delight! The Chicken Xacuti was equally impressive, with tender, well-spiced chicken cooked in a thick, aromatic gravy. The balance of flavors was just right, making it a must-try dish. The place has a no-frills, local vibe, and the service was quick and friendly. Definitely recommend it for a true Goan food experience!”

A little place, but their Ros omlette is to die for! Pair it with bun or poori, and you are sorted! We tried their famous sweet dish too, and their sweet bun, all of which were excellent! Small places like these are the best. Brilliant! However, it might be a tad difficult to locate & there is no parking around the place. That is something you need to keep in your mind.

We were looking for authentic goan breakfast places and then we found this small joint just located at calangute circle. Place ambience is just like a basic canteen but the food is delicious What we had? 1. Chicken Sagoti and poori Delicious chicken preparation served with 4 pooris was a perfect combination. 2. Ros omelette Classic goan breakfast where egg omelette is covered with the Sagoti curry and was serves with poie (goan bread) 3. Bhakkam Pedha It was a sweet dish, similar to khaja but with lots of layers. 4. Special chai Taste was good but it was very sweet Overall experience fabulous. Must visit.

Cafe Anand, you have my heart. Never judge a book by it's cover. We wanted a quick breakfast we head to Anand. Limited menu but unlimited in taste. Guess every item is worth a go but I personally liked Ros Omelette with Parotta. Sukkas were equally good. Very pocket friendly. Food is quite expensive else where. Simple looking eatery but it had a lasting effect in our Summer Goa experience. Must visit.

I had a really good meal in this local restaurant. I honestly do not remember the exact name of the dish but you can see it on the photo and it was full of flavor and nicely cooked. The place has a relaxed and local charm that makes it easy to enjoy your time. The staff were friendly the food came fresh and quick and the prices were very affordable. It felt like a place worth coming back to. Give this review a like and check out my new YouTube channel with interviews from Goa - and don’t forget to subscribe for more local stories! Pros: Authentic restaurant for breakfast. I tried Goan style food: 1. Chicken Xacuti with Poori, Pav and Parota (not all at the same time but I visited this hotel twice) 2. Ros Omlette 3. Double Omlette This restaurant is slightly hidden from the main road circle and there are too many with the name Anand as restaurant but make sure it is a restaurant which serves both Veg and Nonveg. Attached a pic of menu to better plan beforehand. Cons: I did not like the normal tea but the special tea was Good for me but for a regular tea lover may get into the detail. I am a coffee guy ;-)
